Extended Practice Tutorial
I found this tutorial really helpful when starting the new semester. I had taken with me the 3 Major Brief Forms that I had filled out regarding my initial ideas for the major brief later on in the module.
The problems/issues i have with generating a solid idea was that i had originally decided on adapting the Papyrus brief to make it substantial and fit in with my practice. The only thing that had worried me is the topic could end up being a little depressing and deep to thoroughly research into. My tutor agreed with this but mentioned that the idea i had for this brief is good as it is informative and functional, which fits well within my practice. He mentioned that I could still do the Papyrus brief of 1xA3 illustration for a colouring book, but i could adapt this further for myself and make a pack of essentially four different illustrations.
We then moved onto the briefs i have already started and i am going to do, he said that all of the briefs work well with my practice, even the character development brief which i felt had no purpose, he suggested that this is a good brief to experiment and inform my other briefs that i have chose.
In regards to my final major brief, he said i am on the right tracks with finding a problem and trying to resolve it within my project, and suggested that i should maybe find a way to combine both the brief working with the curriculum and the brief working with the 'hidden curriculum' i.e. life skills etc. This is definitely something that i am going to work on, i now need to re-work my brief form being more precise about my ideas, but this will only be really precise when i do my primary research, so this is something i am going to have to start soon.
The most important actions i am going to take since this tutorial is to plan out my time, i have not done a lot of work for this module so far, i have not finished a brief, i only have a lot on the go. This is the time for me to organise my time before easter and start resolving the briefs so i can have time to focus on the major brief towards the end of the term.
